These festering social issues worry me, but almost every place
on earth is in decline and has self-serving politicians. All I can
do is bite the bullet and pray that shit doesn't happen to me.
it doesn't have to be that way ..... I remember my japanese
school mates telling me how safe japan was .... that you could walk
down the streets anywhere at any time of the night and nothing
would happen to you .... even in areas where yakuzas hang out
..... (that excludes korean and mainlander imigrant areas, cos, as
one of them put it, they don't understand the japanese society's
psyche)
I told them, Singapore's the same too ! ....... or so I thought
..... then ....
when we, the stake holders of the society become as cynical and
jaded as you say ..... then we're truly farked ....
that's why I'm joining up with the bukit panjang community watch
program, among other things .... cos this is my home and I am a
stake holder .... I refuse to keep quiet and watch and just shake
my head and suffer in silence .....
and as for self-serving politicians, you watch .... it's gonna
get worse, as more opposition politicians get in and our politics
increasingly becomes a game of musical chairs. Soon, instead
everyone would start telling you what you want to hear, doing what
you'd like them to do, instead of what's really good and
neccessary.
